Video game violence real or not?

The reason that I picked video game violence is because I think that it is an important topic that needs to be addressed. I also like this topic because I love to play video games, and I think that some people just don’t like them, so they come up with the dumbest things just to get rid of them. But what boils my blood the most is that people get rid of things just because it does not suit them. But it is also so sweet when they look so stupid because they were proved wrong. Like one of the best example is the shooting in 2007 at the college and major names like Doctor Phil and Donald trump said right off the bat that the shooting was due to violent video games. Where in all reality after an investigation was done the man that shot up the school did not play video games at all so it looked so good to the video community when some of the biggest names ever looked like complete morons when they went wrongly accusing video games of something they never did. Like I say and still stand by video games do not kill people just like guns. People kill people and that’s all there is too it. You done see a video game getting up and going and shooting someone do you? No that’s exactly right and you never will.

Sales of video games have more than quadrupled from 1995-2008, while the arrest rate for juvenile murders fell 71.9% and the arrest rate for all juvenile violent crimes declined 49.3% in this same period. This is just some of the shocking good that video games have done that for some reason people just seem to overlook. In 2008, 298.2 million video games were sold in the US, totaling $11.7 billion in revenue. Six of the top ten best-selling video games included violence, with four of the games carrying a "Mature" rating recommended for persons aged 17 and older. Now as you can see 6 of the top 10 best-selling video games where violent video games but I think that is a good thing. For one instead of kids or people going out and taking there violence out on other people they are taking it out in game instead of the real world which is better for everyone. Playing violent video games provides a safe outlet for aggressive and angry feelings. A 2007 study reported that 45% of boys played video games because "it helps me get my anger out" and 62% played because it "helps me relax." So that proves it right there that they do more way more good then harm.

The main reason that I want to research this topic is because I love video games it is a great way to pass your time if you don’t have another thing to do. I also wanted to do it because I love when people go talking about all this stuff that they think they know and really know nothing at all. Like the examples I gave you about some big names just blurting things out because it is what they think is right! My argument would be that video games do not make people violent. In fact I think that they do the population good not bad at all. Lastly my essential research question was does video games really make people violent or not at all?
